Bwindi Forest National Park is situated in South-western Uganda in East Africa. This national park is part of the Bwindi impenetrable Forest, and is located along the DRC border next to the Virunga National Park and on the edge of the western Rift Valley.

It has 331 sq km of jungle forests and contains both Montane and lowland forest and is accessible only on foot. This is known to be one of the most biologically forest in Africa, largely due to its antiquity and an altitude range of between 110 and 2607m above sea level. This national park is a true rain forest and spreads over a series of steep ridges and valleys that form the eastern edge of the Albertine Rift valley.

The park has got an average rain fall of 1500 mm, and it’s a vital catchments area, the source of five major rivers that flow into Lake Albert. Tourism in the park focuses on Gorilla tracking in four main points which include: Buhoma, Nkuringo, Ruhija and Rushaga with 400 Gorilla individuals living in 15 troops.

Other than Mountain Gorillas in Bwindi Forest National Park there are other primates like the Red-tailed and blue monkey, black and white colobus monkeys and Olive baboon, small mammals like the Rodents and Bats as well as 350 bird species which include; the African green broad bill, white-tailed blue flycatcher, brown necked parrot and frazers eagle owl and 200 butterfly species.
